Javed Naqi teaches in a college for living. Javed's doctoral research at Jawaharlal Nehru Univeristy New Delhi, examines the global health governance of infectious diseases with a particular focus on governance of the SARS epidemic.
Javed is the founder of Zojila Watch, a youth and children led volunteer network that develops writing/reporting skills in rural young people to write on issues they are passionate about. He is also the founding member of the Asia Pacific Youth Network, formed by young people and rights organizations from 20 countries in the Asia Pacific region.
A native of Kargil, Javed earned a B.Sc. in General Science and a M.Sc. in Zoology (Parasitology) from University of Kashmir, Srinagar. He also holds a M.Phil. degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. His M.Phil. Dissertation was on The AIDS Epidemic in Brazil, India and South Africa: A Comparative Evaluation of State Responses. His research interests include international health, international politics, conflict resolution, peace building, governance, human rights and human security.
